During the March developers breakout group someone asked about the best way to manage large media (video) files in MOSS. After thinking about it, what about using the Link to Document content type? If you add this content type to your document library, you can add a link to a file on an external web server and still allow metadata to be attached to the document. Of course, you would have to find a way to upload documents to the external web server, perhaps through a custom upload form.

Thoughts?
