IE will prompt for correct username/password up to three times. This led me to Microsoft KnowledgeBase article (<A href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182569">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182569</A>) that discussed all the zone registry settings, thinking that I could either disable this prompt (in which case you'd get Access Denied, automatically), or set the number of times it prompts to 0 in the registry since this article provided Hkey paths. </P><P>If this sparks inspiration for someone else to take this further, great.</P><P>As an alternative, WSS v3 and MOSS 2007's answer to this issue is to leverage what Audiences in SPS 2003 offered...hide those links that you should not see to begin with. This prevents anyone from clicking on something they don't already have access to.
